Emerson has introduced its AVENTICS Series XV pneumatic valves aimed at meeting the growing demands for flexibility and efficiency in various industrial settings. These valves, designed with interoperability in mind, are intended to provide machine builders and factory automation professionals with a more adaptable and cost-effective solution. With their compact design and universal compatibility, the Series XV valves are positioned to cater to industries such as factory automation, automotive and tyre manufacturing, and food and packaging

One of the main advantages of the Series XV valves is their higher flow rates, which are delivered in a smaller form factor. This combination offers manufacturers more efficient pneumatic system performance, potentially improving productivity across various applications. The inclusion of universal threads and adherence to regional standards further supports their deployment across different global markets.

Wolf Gerecke, Emerson’s Director of Product Marketing for Machine Automation, highlights the need for such technology: “Manufacturers across industries face increasing pressure to respond to rapidly changing market demands. A system that delivers flexibility and performance, like the Series XV valves, can help meet these challenges.”

The Series XV range currently features the XV03 model, capable of delivering flow rates up to 350 litres per minute under normal conditions (NL/min). A second model, the XV05, scheduled for release in October 2024, is expected to offer an even higher flow rate of up to 880 NL/min. Both models are built using AVENTICS’ established core technology and feature durable metal threads, parallel wiring options, and lightweight aluminium base plates, making them easier to integrate into existing systems.

The valves’ design aims to simplify integration and connectivity, with support for single wiring and parallel connections, such as D-SUB connectors. Additionally, they are compatible with widely used fieldbus protocols, including Profinet, Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, Powerlink, Modbus TCP, IO-Link, and AS-I, which further simplifies the process of linking them into machine control networks.

The ease of commissioning is another notable feature of the Series XV valves. Emerson offers an online configurator to assist in system layout, with access to key data and documentation that can aid in speeding up the design and development process. This can be particularly beneficial for machine builders working to meet tight deadlines or adapt to changing project requirements.

Emerson’s release of the AVENTICS XV series reflects ongoing trends in automation where higher performance, modularity, and global compatibility are increasingly critical for industrial operations.
