Weiler Abrasives, a global leader in abrasives and power brushes for surface conditioning, has announced it will feature the next evolution of abrasive solutions at Schweissen & Schneiden 2025, to be held from 15-19 September at Messe Essen in Germany.

Visitors to booth 1C28 can find surface conditioning solutions to help them cut through barriers in their metal fabrication operations by improving productivity and uptime, overcoming labour challenges and addressing safety issues.

They can learn more about solutions for a variety of industries, including shipbuilding, metal fabrication and multipass welding applications. Weiler Abrasives specialists can help operations choose the right abrasive for their specific applications to help them do more with less and increase efficiency, safety, productivity and profitability.

New Metalynx 3D MAX ceramic resin fiber discs to be featured on the stand are built for maximum performance on the toughest metals. Featuring 3D precision-shaped grain, they deliver exceptional cut rate, durability and cool grinding for maximum productivity.

Designed to boost throughput and reduce operator fatigue, these discs help reduce changeovers to get work done faster. The grain stands upright to slice through metal effortlessly, while the heavy-duty fiber backing increases grain retention and disc life. The micro-fracturing technology and 3D shape make the work easier because less force is needed on hard-to-grind metals.

Weiler’s new Metalynx 2.0 ceramic cutting wheels and grinding wheels will also be featured on the stand. These Ceramic solutions deliver enhanced performance with up to 40% increased material removal compared to previous generations. The cutting wheels and grinding wheels provide a superior combination of life and cut rate for maximum productivity, featuring ceramic grain technology that cuts extremely cool while removing material effortlessly.

“The formulation of our new ceramic solutions makes the difference in overall performance. This was about more than adding innovative abrasive grains – this was about rethinking the entire formulation,” said Valentina Prapotnik, global product development director, Weiler Abrasives. “The outcome is an optimized formula that combines the latest bond technology, unique abrasive grain selection and specially matched reinforcement to deliver superior life and grinding speed that allows users to remove more metal in less time.”

Metalynx and Toroflex ceramic flap discs feature advanced ceramic alumina grains that maintain a high cut rate throughout the disc’s life, with optimized flap configuration to expose new abrasive cloth and maximize effectiveness. These discs also include a topcoat that grinds cool to protect high-value parts from heat discoloration.

Finally, Weiler Abrasives will feature new performance tiers of strip discs in the booth. Metalynx Ceramic strip discs deliver superior cleaning power and extended product life for steel and stainless steel. The self-sharpening ceramic grains effortlessly clean welds and remove thick coatings and stubborn rust, maintaining a consistent cut rate for greater efficiency.

Metalynx and Toroflex SiC strip discs now offer improved performance, cleaning up to 30% more material. Silicon carbide grains provide a high initial cut and penetration, making them ideal for cleaning hard surfaces such as hard grade steel, structural steel, hot-rolled steel and stainless steel.

All ceramic products are contaminant free with less than 0.1% Fe, S, and Cl, providing a worry-free solution for stainless steel applications.

A virtual reality station will give booth visitors the opportunity to put their cutting and grinding skills to the test while learning about safe and effective use. In addition, Weiler Abrasives specialists will be scheduling consultations on the stand to help visitors understand their abrasive spend, along with ways to increase productivity and eliminate grinding and finishing bottlenecks.

These essential consultations will include a thorough discussion of the steps needed to overcome surface conditioning challenges, whether related to labour, safety or increased customer demand. Specialists can also offer recommendations for better ways to grind and finish stainless steel, Inconel, aluminium and other hard-to-work-with materials, and how to choose the right abrasive for specific applications.
