Manufacturing Indaba and City of Cape Town Join Forces to Drive Manufacturing Growth

0

The Summit will bring together manufacturers, industry leaders, investors, policymakers, buyers, suppliers and technology providers to explore the opportunities driving manufacturing growth in Cape Town, the Western Cape and across Africa.

Liz Hart, Managing Director of Manufacturing Indaba, said:

“We are delighted to partner with the City of Cape Town to bring the Cape Town Manufacturing Summit to the city. Cape Town has a dynamic business and industrial ecosystem, and this partnership gives us an opportunity to connect that ecosystem with the wider manufacturing value chain. The Summit will create a platform for meaningful engagement, investment and partnerships that can contribute to sustainable industrial growth.”

The City of Cape Town partnership will support discussions around manufacturing investment, industrial development, localisation, technology and automation, energy, skills and supply-chain resilience, while showcasing opportunities within the city’s manufacturing ecosystem.

Alderman James Vos, Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth at the City of Cape Town, commented:

“The City of Cape Town is proud to partner with Manufacturing Indaba in bringing this important platform to the metro. This is a critical time for the industry as local productivity is encouraged through mechanisms such as the African Continental Free Trade Area and enabled in Cape Town by initiatives such as the City’s recently enacted Manufacturing Support Policy.

We recognise manufacturing as a pivotal driver of economic growth and employment, and the Summit provides an important opportunity to strengthen collaboration between government and industry while showcasing Cape Town as a destination for investment and business growth.

I am particularly looking forward to speaking at the Summit and engaging with the people driving this sector forward. From my own visits to factory floors, I have seen first-hand the ingenuity, resilience and world-class craftsmanship that exists in our city. I have also seen the challenges manufacturers face as they grow and compete in global markets.  That is why bringing government and industry together matters. We need to create the right conditions for manufacturers to invest, expand, create jobs and take Cape Town-made products into new markets across Africa and the world.”

Taking place on 11 November 2026 at the Cape Town Convention Centre, the Cape Town Manufacturing Summit will provide a platform to connect businesses and decision-makers, share industry insights and identify opportunities that can strengthen manufacturing competitiveness and economic growth.
