Gold miner Caledonia Mining has confirmed a fatal accident at its Blanket mine, in Zimbabwe.

The incident occurred on September 21, when an employee was struck by a fall of rock while drilling in a development area. The company says that, despite response efforts, the employee succumbed to injuries sustained during the incident.

Management at Blanket mine is cooperating with authorities as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
