EMVAfrica, together with MultiAlloys and EnergyValves, builds trust through partnerships and premium product and service solutions

Key elements that cultivate and sustain trust within customer and supplier partnerships are central to EMVAfrica’s philosophy. As a specialist supplier and importer of nickel alloys, duplex and high alloy stainless steel, titanium and other niche materials, the organisation considers trust as the foundation of business sustainability, cultivated through group values of integrity, teamwork, respect, entrepreneurial spirit, customer focus and quality.

“In practice, this means giving accurate technical and commercial advice to our customers, sourcing from reputable certified manufacturers, confirming specifications and suitability, providing material and pressure test certificates where applicable, maintaining heat or lot traceability, coordinating third party inspection when required and communicating openly about stock, lead times and risks,” emphasises MultiAlloys Sales Manager, Jason Brokken. “Trust is sustained by consistently honouring commitments, protecting documentation integrity, resolving problems promptly and developing transparent, long term customer and supplier relationships.”

EMVAfrica operates through two specialist divisions, EnergyValves and MultiAlloys, each dedicated to meeting distinct industrial needs. EnergyValves focuses on valves and instrumentation solutions, while MultiAlloys serves as the group’s alloy division and a trusted project partner, supplying customers with an extensive range of materials engineered to meet corrosion, high temperature, strength and demanding industrial service requirements.

As a project partner, MultiAlloys translates operating duty into the correct material grade, product form, dimensions and fabrication route; provides technical and commercial guidance; checks local and international sourcing options; selects certified manufacturers; coordinates documentation, inspection and traceability; manages imports, logistics and multi product packages and maintains clear communication on scope, risks, availability and delivery. Where required, MultiAlloys also works alongside EnergyValves to align piping, specialist metallurgy, valves and actuation within one coordinated project.

The MultiAlloys portfolio spans nickel based alloys, duplex and super duplex stainless steels, high performance stainless steels, titanium alloys and copper based alloys. Product forms include plate, pipe, round bar, selected hollow bar, specialist mill products and centrifugal castings.
Complementing this breadth of supply are services such as local stock availability, international ex stock and ex mill sourcing, project and import support, supplier selection, inspection coordination, logistics and full project package management.

MultiAlloys was jointly founded by Ken Perel and Hugh Whitty in 1997 with the vision of supplying metals whose properties, including corrosion resistance and strength, surpassed those of more readily available stainless steels such as 316. Initially operating as a trader without holding stock, the business steadily invested in building an extensive inventory of frequently used alloys, a commitment that enabled MultiAlloys to meet market needs more efficiently, avoiding the added costs of airfreight and the delays of sea freight importation. From the outset, a key part of its service offering was the provision of technical information to support product application, a differentiator that, while less critical in today’s age of search engines and AI, underscored the division’s customer focused ethos.

Although MultiAlloys operated as a standalone business, it drew on the administration and operational resources of EMVAfrica (then Energy Metals and Energy Engineered Products), a collaboration made possible by the strong working relationship between the business partners. This close alignment ultimately culminated in MultiAlloys being formally absorbed into EMVAfrica in 2021, strengthening the group’s integrated offering to the market.

MultiAlloys’ effectiveness as a project partner is built on EMVAfrica’s 3S model: Stock, Service and Solutions. Jason unpacks each pillar: “Stock means maintaining meaningful local availability of specialist grades, while drawing on international mills and ex stock channels for project quantities and non standard requirements. Service is about combining experienced technical sales support with the right grade and product form selection, cut to size and waterjet processing, documentation, inspection, logistics and project coordination, ensuring customers receive precision and reliability at every stage. And finally, Solutions draw on our group wide materials knowledge to address corrosion, temperature, pressure, strength and fabrication challenges — including hard to find imported packages. This reduces procurement complexity, shortens lead times and ensures customers receive coordinated, fit for purpose outcomes.”

The competitive advantage lies in MultiAlloy’s ability to combine specialist material knowledge, supplier selection, import logistics, inspection, certification, value added processing and project coordination within one relationship. Together with EMVAfrica’s stainless steel portfolio and EnergyValves’ matching valve metallurgy and actuation capability, the group delivers integrated material and flow control packages, ensuring coordinated, fit for purpose outcomes.

Key product offerings include 310 Plate, Duplex Pipe, Duplex Round Bar and 17 4PH Round Bar.
• 310 Plate: Grade 310/310S is a high temperature stainless steel with useful strength and oxidation resistance, ideally suited to furnace and heat treatment equipment.
• Duplex Pipe: Alloy 2205 offers high yield strength, pitting resistance and excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, while Alloy 2507 provides even higher strength together with superior pitting, crevice and chloride resistance.
• Duplex Round Bar: Used for machined shafts, fasteners, pump and valve components and other high performance parts.
• 17 4PH Round Bar: Designed for components requiring high strength and hardness, combined with useful corrosion resistance and good fabricability.

A defining strength of EMVAfrica lies in the value added services delivered through its divisions. MultiAlloys offers cut to size processing for stainless steel and specialist alloy round bar and pipe, together with high precision waterjet cutting for specialised alloy plate. The division also manages global sourcing of project quantities, special dimensions, non stock grades and hard to find items, while coordinating supplier selection, certification, inspection, logistics and multi product packages. Customer specific identification and traceability support further reinforce assurance.

EnergyValves complements this with valve drilling, assembly, pneumatic and electric actuation, accessories, repairs, servicing and technical advice. Together, these services reduce customer handling, subcontracting, material waste, procurement complexity, technical risk and project lead time. Most importantly, they deepen relationships by making the group accountable for a larger share of the customers’ outcomes.

Jason concludes: “Alongside supplying specialist materials, we ensure they are correctly selected, documented, processed, integrated and delivered. By combining our stockholding, international sourcing, technical expertise and value added services across MultiAlloys and EnergyValves, EMVAfrica positions itself as a true project partner, an importer and supplier that delivers coordinated, fit for purpose solutions and long term trust.”
