Concor is rapidly progressing with the major upgrade of The View at Fourways Mall, one of Johannesburg’s busiest retail nodes. The large-scale redevelopment includes a complete overhaul of the building façade, interior spaces, structural components, and tenant layouts, positioning Fourways Mall for improved shopper experience and long-term retail growth.
Concor Contract Manager Martin Muller explains that the refurbishment aims to modernise the centre and enhance its appeal to both shoppers and national retailers. The project introduces improved flow, upgraded finishes, and enhanced comfort — all essential elements for future-proofing a major retail precinct in South Africa’s competitive shopping landscape.
Key Redevelopment Areas
Modern Façade Upgrade
The exterior is being transformed with:
- Recycled timber cladding for a sustainable, modern aesthetic
- High-performance glazed shopfronts designed to reduce glare and heat
- Glass-balustrade balconies and precision-installed Alubond panels for a clean, architectural finish
These improvements elevate the visual impact of the Fourways Mall upgrade, ensuring The View aligns with contemporary retail design trends.
Parking Area Redevelopment
Concor is also reconstructing significant portions of the parking area.
The team has:
- Removed and rebuilt large sections of the existing parking surface
- Begun phased resurfacing using high-quality asphalt
- Maintained full mall operations to minimise disruption to retail traffic
This parking upgrade will support increased visitor volumes as the renovated precinct reopens.
Interior Upgrades and Amenities
The internal upgrade includes:
- Newly built ablution facilities
- Expanded family restrooms
- Enhanced baby-changing rooms
- Retail unit reconfigurations ranging from grey-box to white-box fit-outs
